Winner of the Aga Khan Award for Music, sarod virtuoso Soumik Datta is a visionary composer, presenter and Artistic Director of Soumik Datta Arts. Trained under Pandit Buddhadev Das Gupta, he has collaborated with Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Nitin Sawhney, Anoushka Shankar, Akram Khan and the Philharmonia Orchestra, extending the sarod’s reach across genres and cultures. Described by Vogue as “one of the biggest music talents in Britain”, Soumik’s works— from the award-winning climate project Songs of the Earth to his latest production Travellers—address urgent global issues through fearless, boundary-crossing artistry. In 2025, he was honoured with both the Eastern Eye ACTA Award for Music and the Indian Global Forum Award for Distinctive Contribution to Music.
