Formed in Bangalore in 2017, Gauley Bhai (meaning “brothers from back home”) blends Nepali folk, South Indian rhythms, blues, rock, and hip hop into a sound that is rooted yet nomadic. Their debut album Joro (2019) won critical acclaim and toured across India, Nepal, and the UK. Now set to release their second album in 2025, the quartet is moving towards denser, more textured soundscapes that weave folk-blues with hip hop and Afrobeat. This marks their second appearance at Ziro Festival of Music, where their hypnotic live energy and cross-cultural sound continue to transcend borders.
