Midival Punditz, the New Delhi duo of Gaurav Raina and Tapan Raj, are pioneers of Indian electronic music. Since forming in 1997, they have built a distinctive sound where Indian classical, folk and Sufi traditions meet electronica, bass and club culture. Their landmark 2002 debut helped introduce their music to international audiences, followed by albums including MIDIval Times, Hello Hello and Light. Along the way, they have collaborated with artists including Anoushka Shankar, Abida Parveen, Kailash Kher, Papon and Kutle Khan. For more than two decades, Midival Punditz have shown that tradition and technology don’t have to compete—they can dance together. Their live sets bring that philosophy to life, combining electronic production with live musicians and traditional Indian instruments. The pioneers are back.
