NOVO is a nu-metal band from Haflong, Assam, formed in 2020. The five-member band brings together musicians from different tribal and community backgrounds, making diversity not just part of their story but central to what they represent. Their sound is built on heavy guitars, bass, drums and powerful vocals, with songs shaped by ambition, struggle, identity and the determination to keep moving forward. For NOVO, music is a way to break down the lines that separate people. The band quickly made its mark on the Northeast live circuit, winning the Karbi Youth Festival Battle of the Bands in 2022 before taking the top prize at Ticket to Hornbill in 2025. They also picked up Best Drummer and Best Bassist honours along the way. Now, with original music including their 2026 single “Two Stories,” NOVO are taking their sound beyond Haflong.
