David Angu & The Tribe

India

Sun☀️ Stage

David Angu & The Tribe is a folk-fusion band from Arunachal Pradesh, led by singer-songwriter, guitarist, composer and producer David Angu. The band brings indigenous musical traditions into conversation with contemporary rock and world music, creating a sound that keeps the songs, stories and languages of Northeast India alive in a new form. Rooted in David’s Galo heritage, the music draws on traditional melodies, oral histories and community songs, while electric guitars, rock arrangements and contemporary production give them a fresh energy. Their repertoire also explores the musical traditions of communities including the Nyishi, Miji, Adi, Wancho, Tagin, Nocte, Aka, Tangsa and Khamti. “Ho Delo” is a perfect introduction: an old Galo communal call transformed into a powerful folk-rock anthem. Their music also carries contemporary messages, with songs such as “Ommem” addressing girls’ education and equality. At Ziro, David Angu & The Tribe bring the sounds and stories of Arunachal home—where tradition meets the electric guitar and the hills answer back. Performing at Ziro Festival Sunday, 27 September 2026 | 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm
