Vedan is a Malayalam rapper, songwriter and lyricist from Thrissur, Kerala, whose music confronts caste, class, labour, inequality and the realities of lives often pushed to the margins. With a direct lyrical style and an electrifying live presence, he has become one of South India’s most prominent contemporary hip-hop voices. His breakthrough came with “Voice of Voiceless” in 2020, establishing his reputation for turning lived experience and social realities into powerful rap. His crossover into Malayalam cinema brought further recognition, including the hugely popular “Kuthanthram” from Manjummel Boys, which earned him the Kerala State Film Award for Best Lyricist. Vedan also founded Karupp Records, supporting underrepresented voices in Indian independent music. At Ziro, expect Malayalam hip-hop with something to say—and a whole lot of energy behind it.
